The Ultimate Beginners Guide to Makeup Products (Products You Can Use Everyday)

When I was younger, I regarded makeup stores as an alluring adult place. It seemed like a very mature concept — painting one’s face. Watching other people do there makeup was something, as my 8 year old self viewed it, akin to painting a portrait.

I watched my mom every morning participate in her daily ritual of mascara, eyeliner, perhaps concealer, and a light sparkly pot of MAC eyeshadow. As she would get ready in the morning, I would examine the products with a sort-of awe, and couldn’t wait to try them on my own face. However, despite this curiosity at such a young age, I didn’t start consistently wearing makeup until I was 14. Through trial and error, I’ve come to the conclusion that less is more, as I can easily establish a routine into my daily life every morning.

Trial and error has brought me to love these simple products, which hopefully you will love too:

If I am too lazy to do anything, I’ll probably still wear mascara. Tarteist lash paint mascara has become my favourite and I’ve been through two tubes!

Nars soft matt complete concealer stays, it doesn’t look greasy or cakey, and it makes your skin look AWESOME even if it isn’t. I wear this almost everyday and have been through three pots.

My go-to makeup look is mascara, concealer, and benefit ‘gimme brow’ brow gel. You don’t think you need it until you start using it. It really pulls my face together.

Eyeliner (for when I’m feeling fancy or for a night out):

Sometimes I’m feeling a little fancy and the Kat Von D ‘Tattoo Liner‘ is easy to apply and stays.

Lip Gloss:

Glossier is hyped up a lot, but their lipgloss definitely deserves the hype. It’s glossy and makes me feel and look cool.

This liquid lipstick is definitely a favorite of mine. I don’t always wear it, but when I do I use one of these colors! However, if I’m going for a more effortless look, Hourglass lipsticks are my go-to. Sadly, their shipping to the UK is really pricey. However, the moisturised lipstick-look with this lipstick is truly worth a try.

Makeup isn’t for everyone, but if you want to wear it I think wearing light and natural makeup that makes you feel good is the way to go. That being said, a full face of makeup isn’t bad, either, it’s all down to personal preference. I hope these product recommendations help you out if you’re looking for simple and easy products!
