As the weather we are currently experiencing in the British Isles would suggest we now live on the equator, I thought I’d find out how our current bloggers remain stylish in this heat. So, here’s the low-down on our favourite Summer 2018 trends.
Commonly associated with Jesus, the humble walking sandal does not have a good reputation in the fashion world. For those who are, however, done with unsupportive strappy shoes, trainers that pinch and ballet flats which have seen better days, the walking sandal may be the future. They are a comfortable, supportive (and hear me out) stylish summer choice for your wardrobe.
Perfect for summer, walking sandals allow your feet to breath and can work with shorts, a dress and even jeans in the chillier evening time. Woven straps and vibrant colours have transformed the old walking sandal – which you might associate with your grandparents or long-distance hikers – into something you can wear every day.
It’s important to look around before you buy a pair – the walking sandal can be fickle and it’s important to go for a trusted brand. Plus, they’re huge in the south-eastern USA, so you can just say you’re being international. Bon voyage!
Popular US brands include Chaco and Teva, which can easily be purchased on Amazon (with Prime delivery!).

Have you ever wanted to feel a little bit like Dorothy, a little bit like a picnic blanket, and still look chic as hell? Then jump on the gingham trend this summer. Lightweight fabrics are great for the heat, and warm days are calling out for patterns. The gingham trend lends itself to many different occasions. Pair printed trousers with a simple black top and heels for drinks with friends, or let a breezy sundress take you on the perfect lunch date. Gingham as a pattern offers an effortless way to look put together while still maintaining a summery ease. It’s just the right amount of cutesy with a touch of edge.

My favourite summer trend is the wrap style midi skirt. I sometimes find midi skirts really hard to style, as the wrong one can look awkward and shapeless. However, I think the right wrap style midi skirt can be extremely flattering and versatile, and perfect for summer (especially a summer holiday where you want to make the most out of one key piece).
An easy and casual way to wear these skirts is with a plain strappy top, or body, some simple sandals and gold jewellery. This look could then easily be dressed up by swapping your sandals for heels, and adding some statement earrings or a bold lip. On the other hand, these midi skirts can be worn with a graphic t-shirt, and some plain white trainers for a completely different, more laid-back look. Although I couldn’t think of anything worse than wearing a jacket in this heat at the moment, another trend piece which looks especially good with these midi skirts is the cropped denim jacket, as they stop just above your waist and therefore, ensure you don’t look shapeless.

This summer, the logo is back. Whilst it may have gone into decline by the early noughties, as a flood of knock-offs made the logo into a symbol of tacky fashion, in recent years brands have once again been putting advertising back on the catwalk. No longer a brash, outlandish statement, the big fashion houses are re-working the logo back into their collections, and the high street is following suit. The logo can be hard to style without feeling like you’re following the crowd, so aim for more unusual design aesthetics, and layer with classic, tailored pieces.

Not to be left out, I thought I’d just give a bit of airtime to this very important trend …
People that know me, know that I love a good shoe. Heels and wedges, basically anything that lets me pretend I’m not actually the same height as a five year old, are personal favourites. But after an enforced break from heels for about 6 months, (I was training for a marathon, and it turns out heels and bad ankles are not a good idea. Who’d have thought it!) I have a new appreciation for flat shoes too, they can be just as beautiful or add as much as a statement. Not to mention being easier to walk in! So of course I picked a type of shoe as my favourite summer trend.
But this is not just a shoe lover’s trend, because I am sure you will all feel the same about CINDERELLA SHOES!!! Yes, you read that correctly, a trend for this summer is beautiful, sparkly princess shoes. I bought a beautiful pair of silver sparkly heels for my sixth form prom, and have unashamedly worn them to basically every formal occassion I’ve been to since. But the opportunity to wear Cinderella shoes on the regular is something that I could not pass up. I mean, who doesn’t want to feel like they’re part of a fairytale everyday?
