We’re a week out from Christmas and if you’re like me, you may have been too busy with exams to shop for holiday outfits. One thing I’ve noticed is that online holiday collections, without fail, consist of cocktail attire or New Year’s Eve-at-the-club styles. The problem with this is that I have many a family dinner planned this holiday break, and I can’t wear sequin mini skirts and crop tops in front of my grandparents. Just no. Most family-appropriate, holiday-themed outfits come from the normal collection – you just have to look. Here are a few outfit inspos to get you started.
The inspiration here is Vanessa Hudgens. Trousers are an easy go to for extended family gatherings. They’re easy to move around in and you don’t have to worry about them riding up. A light sweater or blouse can add the cozy winter vibe, and a trench coat brings the outfit together. With a statement neckline or tailored cut, ankle booties or ballet flats are good shoe pairings.
For a more sophisticated look, check out Selena Gomez. Red and metallics really bring together the holiday vibe, and a little shimmer always makes things more fun. For a holiday party-ready look, try a simple dress with a statement – neckline or sleeves work. Don’t be afraid to mix metallics when it comes to accessories. A clutch for the essentials and cute pair of heels ties it together.
For our third outfit, E! News’ Maria Menounos gives us inspiration. A skirt and white blouse are staples for any season, and while Maria looks very summery, a change in cuts and materials make all the difference. Tweed or jersey skirts work for a winter vibe, especially with tights, and add a high neckline and fur-lined trench coat for warmth. Heeled ankle booties round off the outfit for a nice evening out.
