A Walk in My Wardrobe: Meet the CC Bloggers

With the recent success of our CC Launch night at the Adamson, we thought it best

to continue introducing this year’s new committee. Behind every CC blog post we of

course have our trusty bloggers, providing you with weekly fashion inspo and style

advice. Keep on reading to find out their personal fashion choices!

In true red carpet style, we asked our bloggers the first question on

the mind of every fashion interviewer: who are you wearing?

Wulang (Lala) Derrida

Lala is wearing:

Sweater – J.W. Anderson

Trousers – my mom made them

Trainers – Isabel Marant

Necklace – Alex Monroe

What is your ultimate wardrobe staple and why?

My staple is something sentimental, paired with something that makes me feel a little uncomfortable. For example my go-to sentimental items are: a necklace from Mark, my boyfriend, earrings from my lovely step-mum, and everything that my mom made for me. I would then pair these with something  like a bold, bright coloured sweater or jacket, shoes, or whatever makes you question your own choice in clothing, how exciting.

What trend for Autumn/Winter are you most excited about?

‘It’s very cliché, but I never really appreciate trend, for me personal style trumps all else. So…Linda Rodin and Carine Roitfeld, not what they’re wearing ,but how they wear them and make whatever they put on just theirs.

Amelia Brown

Amelia is wearing:

Jeans – H&M Denim (distressed at home)

Duster Coat – Asos

Cashmere Scarf – Arrow

Jumper – Oasis

Shoes – Zara

Necklace – Vintage

Out of everything you are wearing, what is your favourite piece and why?

It would have to be my vintage broach necklace. My parents got it for me one Christmas so it holds a lot of sentimental value; trend driven fashion will come and go, but jewelry like this is timeless. Or my shoes, they’re so classic: you can put them with any outfit and you’ll instantly look like you’ve got your shit together. If you’re ever looking for Chanel-esque items, Zara is the place to go for sure.

If your wardrobe caught on fire (god forbid), what item would you rescue?

I would save my black, raw silk top from Alexander Wang. I bought it from this store that sells unworn designer pieces for a fraction of the retail price, so it was an absolute steal. It’s backless and the fit is unlike any other piece I own.

Rachel Brown

Rachel is wearing:

Trousers – Urban Outfitters

Ring – Vintage

Coat – Zara

Trainers – Nike Air Force Ones

Where or who do you get your style inspiration from?

I would say I tend to follow trends in the stores I love, but if I had to pick out a style icon I’d pick Alexa Chung; I also adore the eccentric style of FKA Twigs.

What is your biggest fashion pet peeve, or style faux-pas?

This is a tricky one, it used to be socks and sandals without a doubt, but now it seems people are actually rocking that look so I guess, each to their own!

Erin Sebastian

Erin is wearing:

Shirt – Theory

Jacket – Blu Pepper

Jeans – Articles of Society

Shoes – Mojo Moxy

Earrings – C Wonder

Scarf – Subtle Luxury

Out of everything you are wearing, what is your favourite item and why?

My favourite piece would have to be the scarf. The gold hints work so well with fall styles, but it’s still warm enough to wear through the winter. Plus it’s sentimental – my brother got it for me for my birthday before he went to college.

How else would you style it?

For warmer looks, I style it with a winter coat. I have a hunter green one that really makes the gold pop. I also put it over solid colour sweaters and use it as the accent piece.

Lou Reeves

Lou is wearing:

Knitted cami top – Pins & Needles

Bleached mom jeans – Urban Outfitters

Woven belt – H&M

Loose-knit cardigan – H&M

Trainers – Converse

Gold necklace – Vintage

What is your most recent fashion purchase?

The jeans I’m wearing in the picture. Anyone who knows me knows how much I adore denim as a texture, but I’d always been such a devout fan of the skinny – as a short-legged 5 foot 1 girl that I just wasn’t sure if a ‘mom’ style would be flattering. I absolutely love these: they’re so comfy and casual, yet still look fab with slim heel and an ankle strap.

What is your ultimate wardrobe staple and why?

I have a laser-cut, skinny leather belt, which I wear with absolutely everything. It’s delicate enough to be able to add it to occasion wear (it even featured in my outfit for Christmas Ball last year), and is also great at adding definition and enhancing my (barely there) curves in the daytime. Investing in a good quality belt was one of my best fashion decisions to date.

Ellen Budgell-Price

Ellen is wearing:

Coat – Urban Outfitters

Trousers – Zara

Trainers – Zara

Out of everything you are wearing, what is your favourite piece and why?

My favourite piece that I am wearing is my coat from urban outfitters. It is the warmest coat I own by far, and why go for a black puffer coat when you can go bright green? It is easy to wear and you can just chuck it on and make your outfit stand out a little more.

How would you describe your style in 3 words?

Comfortable, sparkly, unplanned

Niki Louise Torch

Niki is wearing:

Dress – Zara

Scarf – H&M

Boots – My mother’s wardrobe

How would you describe your style in 3 words?

Casual, coordinated and classic – or any word starting with C apparently

What fashion piece do you find yourself reaching for season after season? And why do you think that is?

It would definitely be a big oversized coat; in fact I have a wardrobe solely for my coats and jackets. Apart from the fact they are super comfortable, I just love how they can make a subtle and understated outfit stand out immediately and are so wearable in every season (especially in a rainy St Andrews)! I am also obsessed with lipstick as they can always save a bad makeup day, my favourites right now being Dolce K by Kylie Jenner or Persistence by MAC.
